!TFAM Broadcast Alert! Today is Monday, March 2, 2026 It’s a new day in paradise!

Published since 2008, !TFAM is a bi-weekly lifeline uniting readers to ensure the legacy of Tuskegee Airmen. !TFAM provides an inside view into the lives of Tuskegee Airmen and the people they influence.

Welcome back! Today I am drawing your attention to two important events, a birthday and shutting down The Combined Federal Campaign website. Today is Lonely Eagle and Tuskegee Airman Mitchell Higginbotham’s birthday. Mitch was known as Tuskegee Airmen, Inc’s official unofficial Ambassador of Goodwill. That’s right, his designation as Tuskegee Airmen’s Ambassador of Goodwill wasn’t official, but almost all of the airmen and members who knew him – and that was a lot of people – knew him by that handle.

The end of the Combined Federal Campaign is bad news for many charity organizations including Tuskegee Airmen organizations that provide scholarships and other services to young people. This campaign has helped TAI affiliates and others move forward with their goals and life choices. The Combined Federal Campaign has helped us help others have a better chance and a better life. Read their letter and take action.

Let’s start with Mitch Higginbotham, Tuskegee Airman.

On February 14, 2016, Mitch joined the Lonely Eagles Chapter. The headline in the February 16, 2016 edition of !TFAM read…

The Lonely Eagles Chapter has a new member

Mitchell Higginbotham,

Tuskegee Airmen Ambassador of Goodwill,

Dear all,

Our beloved Mitch Higginbotham joined the Lonely Eagles chapter, Saturday, February 14, 2016.  Mitch’s nephew, Robert, “Bob”, Higginbotham phoned to deliver this sad news yesterday.

Mitch was a huge Tuskegee Airmen Inc. booster and held the title “Ambassador of Goodwill” because whenever he spoke with the media and audiences about his Tuskegee Airmen classmates/cohorts and their excellence, he always had encouraging words. He spoke about what was good, noble, and enduring.

This article about the history of Tuskegee Airman spotlights the William “Bill” Campbell chapter in Northern California’s bay area. Comments from chapter members personalize the story. Of special interest is the interview with Mitch and Robert Higginbotham in front of the nation’s capital on the day Tuskegee Airmen were awarded The Congressional Gold Medal. The caption under their picture mistakenly states that Tuskegee Airmen were awarded The Congressional Medal of Honor!
