Campomarino commemorated the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Italy and the end of the war. For the occasion, the Surviving Spouses of the Tuskegee Airmen, represented by Mrs. Delores Brown, unveiled a plaque at the site where their husbands served. The ceremony was attended by local authorities and 60 young students. The event was organized by the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Italy Chapter and its president, Marco Altobello. Text of the plaque: We, the Surviving Spouses of the Tuskegee Airmen, place this plaque in Campomarino. From here, between 1944 and 1945, our husbands took flight. Here they served with courage, facing both the enemy and prejudice, in defense of the freedom and dignity of all. Their example endures. This land remains in our hearts. #americanhistory
